Reporting at the session, a representative of Quang Ninh province said that under the revised PDP8, the province is planned to have 29 power source projects with a total capacity of 10,186 MW for the 2025 - 2035 period. Of these, the 2025-2030 period alone includes 21 power source projects (with a total capacity of 3,502 MW) and 27 transmission grid projects, comprising four 500kV projects and 23 220kV projects. To date, Quang Ninh has completed updating the list of power source and grid projects into the provincial master plan as well as urban and rural plans.

Regarding industrial development, in the first six months of 2026, industry accounted for 43.22% of the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) structure. Of this, mining accounted for 14.43%, while manufacturing and processing accounted for 13.49%. The production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam, and air conditioning accounted for 14.93%, while water supply and waste and wastewater management and treatment accounted for 0.38%. Manufacturing and processing was the fastest-growing sector over the period, with average annual growth of over 21%, making it a key driver of the province's GRDP growth.

Overall, the scale and structure of Quang Ninh's industrial sector are shifting in a more modern direction, gradually reducing dependence on resource extraction while strengthening the role of manufacturing and processing, in line with the orientation toward sustainable development and improved growth quality.

Quang Ninh province proposed that the MoIT compile and report to competent authorities to consider, provide guidance on, and address difficulties and obstacles in implementing the Government's resolutions on industrial development and power source and grid projects under the revised PDP8.

The effective implementation of the National Power Development Plan for the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (the revised PDP8 under Decision No. 768/QD-TTg), and its implementation plan (Decision No. 1509/QD-BCT), is an especially urgent task to firmly ensure national energy security and meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable economic growth.
