Import and export between Viet Nam and CPTPP countries in July and first 7 months of 2021

In the first 7 months of 2021, the total two-way trade between Vietnam and the CPTPP market reached US$52 billion, up 23.36% over the same period in 2020 and equal to 13.86% of the total two-way trade turnover of the whole country, a slight decrease compared to the proportion of 14.71% in the first 7 months of 2020.

The two-way trade value between Viet Nam and the CPTPP countries in July 2021 reached US$7.9 billion, an increase of 0.51% compared to June 2021 and an increase of 22.16% compared to July 2020.

In July 2021, Viet Nam had a trade surplus of 59.08 million USD to the CPTPP market, an increase of 60.52% compared to June 2021 and a decrease of 22.58% compared to July 2020. Accumulated from the beginning of the year to the end of July 2021, Vietnam had a trade surplus of 86.28 million USD of goods to this market, a decrease of 75.94% compared to the trade surplus of the first 7 months of 2020.

Regarding exports, the value of Vietnamese goods exported to the CPTPP market in July 2021 reached 3.98 billion USD, up 0.79% compared to June 2021 and up 21.64% compared to July 2020. In the first 7 months of 2021, Vietnam's export turnover of goods to this market reached 26.04 billion USD.

In July 2021, exports of a number of products such as machinery and equipment, spare parts, phones and components of Viet Nam to the CPTPP market grew strongly compared to June 2021 and July 2020. However, exports of a number of products such as textiles and garments, computers and components, and footwear... decreased. Notably, textile and garment exports only increased by 2.6%, so the proportion of Vietnam's textile and garment export turnover to the CPTPP has shrunk sharply from 13.04% in 7 months of 2020 to 10.92 % in the first 7 months of 2021.

Viet Nam's imports from CPTPP member countries in July 2021 reached US$3.92 billion, up 0.23% compared to June 2021 and up 22.70% compared to July 2020. Generally in the first 7 months of 2021, Viet Nam's goods imported from this market reached 25.96 billion USD, up 24.21% over the same period in 2020, accounting for 13.75% of Viet Nam's total goods import, which is narrowed compared to the proportion of 15.04% of the same period in 2020.
