Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang accompanies National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on official visit to Mongolia
From September 9-11, 2026, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang joined the high-level Vietnamese delegation accompanying National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his spouse on an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Chairman of the State Great Hural of Mongolia Sandag Byambatsogt and his spouse.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was the first guest invited by Chairman Sandag Byambatsogt since the latter assumed office. This was National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s first official visit to Mongolia and the first visit by a Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Mongolia in 23 years, since 2003.

Vietnam and Mongolia have maintained traditional friendship since an early period, with the two sides regularly supporting and assisting each other. In recent years, bilateral relations have developed substantively and comprehensively across various fields. The two countries established a Comprehensive Partnership during the State visit to Mongolia by Party General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang participated in and accompanied the National Assembly Chairman and his spouse at a number of important activities, including the official welcome ceremony at the State Palace Square; a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to President Ho Chi Minh and a visit to School No. 14, which bears the name of President Ho Chi Minh; visits to the Bogd Khan Palace Museum complex and the Winter Palace; a visit and working session at the Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia; and a meeting with the Vietnamese community in Mongolia.
On September 10, 2026, during the high-level talks, the two sides agreed to actively consider further opening their markets to each other’s goods, including facilitating access for Vietnam’s key agricultural and seafood products to the Mongolian market, thereby helping achieve the target of raising bilateral trade turnover to USD 200 million at an early date. The two sides also agreed to promote cooperation in science and technology, tourism, digital transformation, renewable energy and green energy.
In addition, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang accompanied Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung at a meeting with Mongolian First Deputy Prime Minister J.Enkhbayar. At the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote close cooperation in the mineral sector, strengthen trade promotion programs in both Vietnam and Mongolia, and actively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on sustainable rice trade between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Mongolia’s Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry.

The participation of Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang in the high-level Vietnamese delegation accompanying National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his spouse on the official visit to Mongolia helped demonstrate Vietnam’s strong attention to economic, trade and investment cooperation with Mongolia, while affirming the important role of economic and trade cooperation as one of the key pillars of bilateral relations.
