Viet Nam competition commission and France's directorate-general for competition, consumer affairs and fraud prevention sign letter of intent on consumer protection cooperation
On the morning of September 10, 2026, at the headquarters of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty in the Bercy district of Paris, France, the Viet Nam Competition Commission (VCC) of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and France's Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) signed a Letter of Intent on cooperation in the field of consumer protection.
The Letter of Intent was signed by Trinh Anh Tuan, Chairman of the VCC, and Sarah Lacoche, Director General of the DGCCRF.

The signing ceremony of the Letter of Intent between the VCC under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam and the DGCCRF under the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty was held within the framework of the high-level visit of Vietnamese Party and State leaders to the French Republic, making a significant contribution to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in general and between the two consumer protection authorities in particular.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ngo Van Tuan, Minister of Finance of Viet Nam, and Roland Lescure, Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of France, together with representatives of relevant agencies of the two countries.

The Letter of Intent provides a framework for the two authorities to strengthen information exchange, share experiences, and promote cooperation in the field of consumer protection, in line with practical requirements and the increasingly developing trade and economic relations between Viet Nam and France. Accordingly, cooperation will be carried out through various forms, including support for the application of new technologies to detect and address violations of consumer rights in cyberspace, and the organization of study visits, meetings, workshops, thematic conferences and training courses to exchange experiences between the two countries in various areas of consumer protection of mutual interest.
Immediately following the signing ceremony, the VCC under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam and the DGCCRF under the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty held their first official bilateral working meeting to discuss the implementation of cooperation activities under the Letter of Intent. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged updates on the activities and new directions of each authority, discussed a number of common issues and challenges in consumer protection, and discussed proposed areas and plans for bilateral cooperation for the 2027 - 2028 period.
