Head of the Central Organizing Commission Le Minh Hung elected Prime Minister
With 495 out of 495 deputies, accounting for 100% of those present voting in favor, the National Assembly adopted a resolution electing Head of the Central Organizing Commission Le Minh Hung as Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2026 - 2031 term.
On the afternoon of April 7, 2026, continuing the first session of the 16th National Assembly, the legislature met in a closed session to discuss and vote on the list of nominees for the position of Prime Minister.
On the same afternoon, Deputies Heard Le Quang Manh, Secretary General of the 16th National Assembly and member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, present the draft resolution on the election of the Prime Minister.
With 495 out of 495 deputies, accounting for 100% of those present voting in favor, the National Assembly passed the resolution electing Le Minh Hung, member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, as Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2026 - 2031 term.

With 495 out of 495 deputies, representing 100% of those present voting in favor, the National Assembly adopted a resolution electing Le Minh Hung as Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2026 - 2031 term.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Prime Minister, after being elected by the National Assembly, takes the oath of office.
In the presence of the National Assembly and compatriots and voters nationwide, the newly elected Prime Minister Le Minh Hung took the oath: “Under the sacred red flag with a golden star of the Fatherland, in the presence of the National Assembly and compatriots and voters across the country, I, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, solemnly swear: to remain absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the People, and to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and to strive to fulfill the duties entrusted by the Party, the State and the People.''
