Boosting business connections, expanding room for Vietnam-Bulgaria cooperation

From August 10-14, 2026, in Sofia, the Vietnam Trade Office in Bulgaria held working sessions with a number of Bulgarian agencies, chambers of commerce and trade promotion and business support organizations to discuss economic and trade cooperation and introduce Vietnam International Sourcing 2026.

At a meeting with Tsvetan Simeonov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the two sides reviewed the implementation of agreements and cooperation activities carried out in recent times, including the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BCCI and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) signed in 2024, as well as the MoU on cooperation with the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) signed in 2025.

BCCI is one of the business representative organizations with the widest network in Bulgaria, with more than 52,000 businesses and over 100 industry associations. Building on existing cooperation, the two sides discussed the potential for additional activities to connect businesses, exchange delegations, and promote trade, investment and skilled-labor cooperation. BCCI affirmed its readiness to continue working with Vietnamese partners to turn shared areas of interest into concrete outcomes.

In a meeting with Boyko Takov, Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Promotion Agency, the two sides focused on discussing the potential to expand cooperation into several new fields, alongside traditional product groups.

The Bulgarian side expressed interest in cooperating with Vietnam in areas such as high-tech manufacturing, biotechnology, aviation technology, and industrial and dual-use products, while continuing to seek connections in footwear, textiles, and food and beverages. Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen direct business-to-business connections to better identify demand, supply capacity and projects with real potential for implementation.

At a discussion with the Executive Board of the European-Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Investment, headquartered in Sofia, delegates discussed several potential areas of cooperation, including energy, industrial and dual-use products, electric vehicles, chemicals and skilled labor. Both sides agreed to step up thematic exchange programs and business connections, gradually turning cooperation proposals into specific contacts and opportunities.

As part of the working sessions, the Vietnam Trade Office in Bulgaria introduced its partners to the content, scale and connection opportunities at Vietnam International Sourcing 2026, to be held from September 3-5, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City. The Trade Office called on Bulgarian chambers of commerce, trade promotion organizations, associations and businesses to help spread information, mobilize participation and organize business delegations to attend the event. It offers Bulgarian businesses a direct opportunity to engage with Vietnamese manufacturers and exporters, explore supply sources, find partners and discuss cooperation opportunities suited to both sides' needs.

Through this series of working sessions, the Vietnam Trade Office in Bulgaria continues to maintain existing channels of cooperation while expanding discussions into new fields that could complement traditional trade structures, aiming to create more concrete business connections between Vietnam and Bulgaria in the time ahead.
