Newspaper of Industry and Trade steadily accelerates its transformation

Reporting at the meeting, Nguyen Van Minh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper of Industry and Trade, stated that amid the nationwide push to streamline the organizational apparatus and restructure the press system toward greater efficiency, the Newspaper of Industry and Trade has maintained organizational stability while continuously innovating its content and operational methods, further affirming its role as the Ministry’s key communications agency.

According to Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Van Minh, following the milestone of its 80th anniversary in 2025, the Newspaper of Industry and Trade has continued to reposition itself with a stronger focus on its mission and mandate, prioritizing the effective implementation of its core political responsibility: delivering timely and accurate information on the Party’s guidelines, State policies and laws, and the Ministry’s policy directions to the public and business community.

“The Newspaper of Industry and Trade defines its core value not through sudden spikes in website traffic, but through building a stable readership genuinely interested in issues related to the economy, industry, trade, and the country’s major developments,” he emphasized.

One of the newspaper’s most notable achievements in the current period is its strong commitment to digital transformation and the application of technology in journalism. Since 2024, the Newspaper of Industry and Trade has established a Digital Transformation Task Force. Following the issuance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, the task force was further strengthened and expanded its efforts to integrate new technologies into journalistic operations.

Since the beginning of this year, the newspaper has identified artificial intelligence as a central pillar in modernizing its entire editorial workflow. Recently, the Party Committee of the newspaper held a thematic meeting and approved a policy to invest in building an intelligent newsroom management system using the unit’s own cost-saving resources, while also seeking additional support to ensure timely implementation. The system is expected to be operational and reported to the Ministry by June 21.

This integrated platform will consolidate all newsroom operations into a unified data system, enabling leadership to monitor and manage editorial activities in a more centralized, scientific and efficient manner. It is also expected to enhance the quality of policy communications and better meet the growing demands of industry associations, business sectors and the broader enterprise community.

“Our orientation is to build a team of journalists who are not only capable of meeting daily news demands, but are also able to produce in-depth journalistic works with strong practical value and broad social impact,” Nguyen Van Minh affirmed.

Sectoral journalism serves as an effective ‘extended arm’ of the Ministry

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the Newspaper of Industry and Trade in recent years, particularly its sense of responsibility, proactive spirit of innovation, and the determination of its leadership, reporters and editors to continually improve.

According to the Deputy Minister, the key factor underpinning the newspaper’s strength and long-term development is its internal solidarity, professional dedication, and a team of journalists with strong political awareness, solid expertise and deep understanding of the industry.

“The Newspaper of Industry and Trade is a collective driven by passion, with deep professional competence and strong sectoral expertise, and above all, a profound love for journalism. That is the most important foundation for the newspaper to continue developing sustainably and reaching greater heights in the years ahead,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long stressed.

Regarding the newspaper’s proposals related to institutional mechanisms, resources and organizational models, the Deputy Minister expressed his support, affirming that he would continue to back proposals grounded in practical realities, strategic vision and sound justification.

According to the Deputy Minister, communications is playing an increasingly important role in disseminating policies and major directions, and a strong sector-focused media outlet can serve as an effective “extended arm,” supporting the Ministry in communications, public information and policy advocacy.

Recognizing the role of the Newspaper of Industry and Trade in communicating the Ministry’s key tasks, including in the energy sector, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long praised the newspaper’s proactive role in accompanying the Ministry in promoting major policies and initiatives, including Resolution No. 70-NQ/TW on ensuring national energy security through 2030, with a vision to 2045.

He noted that as double-digit economic growth becomes an overarching goal in national governance, ensuring energy security remains a fundamental pillar. Meanwhile, policy communication must move one step ahead in order to build social consensus, strengthen public trust, and improve policy implementation effectiveness.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long also pointed out that the Newspaper of Industry and Trade still has considerable room to expand its in-depth reporting, particularly through stories highlighting effective models, best practices, and exemplary cases from localities, businesses and leading individuals involved in policy implementation. In doing so, the newspaper can not only clarify policy outcomes but also promote positive values and generate momentum for socio-economic development.

Addressing the newspaper’s future development orientation, the Deputy Minister welcomed its goal of becoming one of the country’s top 10 most influential online news outlets by 2030. He noted that with strong support from the Ministry’s leadership, a solid internal foundation, and a clear commitment to innovation, this is an entirely achievable target.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long expressed confidence that the Newspaper of Industry and Trade would continue to uphold its proud tradition, build a team of journalists who are both politically steadfast and professionally capable, continuously improve their expertise, political integrity and innovative capacity, and further strengthen the newspaper’s role as a key communications agency and an effective bridge between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the industrial and trade sectors, businesses and the public, making practical contributions to the country’s socio-economic development goals in the new era.
