Minister Le Manh Hung holds working session with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil Corporation
On 5 June 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Minister Le Manh Hung held a working session with Eric M. Hambly, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil Corporation.
Also in attendance from the Ministry of Industry and Trade were leaders of relevant units, including the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal, the Foreign Market Development Department, and representatives of Petrovietnam. On the Murphy Oil side, representatives of relevant departments and divisions attended the meeting.

Murphy Oil is a US global energy corporation with more than 100 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production across North America, Southeast Asia, Africa, and other key regions worldwide.
The company has been operating in Vietnam since 2012 and is currently participating as operator in several key petroleum contracts, including the Lac Da Vang and Hai Su Vang projects, with prospects of contributing additional oil and gas supply, strengthening energy security, and supporting Vietnam’s economic development.
At the working session, Minister Le Manh Hung highly appreciated Murphy Oil’s contributions to oil and gas exploration and production activities in Vietnam.

He requested that Murphy Oil, in its role as operator, closely coordinate with relevant parties to actively implement oil and gas activities under signed petroleum contracts, particularly in Blocks 15 - 1/05 and 15 - 2/17, ensuring progress, quality, and efficiency.
Looking ahead, the Minister also urged Murphy Oil to continue studying and considering new investment activities and the signing of additional petroleum contracts in Vietnam, on the basis of ensuring investment efficiency, harmonised interests among relevant parties, and full compliance with legal regulations.
Eric M. Hambly, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil, shared the corporation’s global business strategy, noting that Vietnam remains an important partner. He expressed appreciation to the Government of Vietnam, as well as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, for facilitating Murphy Oil’s exploration and production activities in recent years, and put forward several proposals related to its oil and gas operations in Vietnam.
Minister Le Manh Hung stated that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to study and consider providing the most favourable conditions, in accordance with legal regulations, for Murphy Oil’s oil and gas activities in Vietnam.
