Ministry of Industry and Trade holds conference of key officials on personnel affairs
On the afternoon of July 31, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) convened a conference of key officials on personnel affairs to carry out the nomination process for the appointment of a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. The conference was chaired by Comrade Le Manh Hung, Secretary of the MoIT Party Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade.
The event was attended by representatives of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, the Central Inspection Commission, and the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, together with members of the Standing Board of the MOIT Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry’s affiliated units.

Addressing the conference, Minister Le Manh Hung underscored that personnel work is a fundamental task in building a leadership team capable of meeting the development requirements of both the sector and the country. He noted that, following the Secretariat’s approval of the policy to nominate and appoint one Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade from the pool of in-house personnel included in the approved leadership planning and equivalent sources, the Standing Board of the Party Committee and the Ministry’s collective leadership had completed all required procedures in accordance with regulations.
Following the first two stages of the process, the Standing Board of the Party Committee and the Ministry’s collective leadership reached unanimous agreement to nominate Nguyen Viet Son, Member of the Executive Committee of the MoIT Party Committee and Director General of the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal, to proceed to the subsequent stages of the appointment process in accordance with applicable regulations.

At the conference, Tran Quang Huy, Member of the Standing Board of the MoIT Party Committee and Director General of the Department of Organisation and Personnel, presented the eligibility criteria, standards and procedures for appointing a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade from the Ministry’s in-house personnel source. He also introduced a summary of Nguyen Viet Son’s personal profile and professional career.

Tran Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Oil, Gas and Coal, then delivered remarks on the nominated candidate. He stated that Nguyen Viet Son has more than 30 years of experience in the energy and petroleum sectors, during which he has contributed to formulating strategies and master plans, improving institutional frameworks, and resolving difficulties facing numerous key energy projects.
According to Tran Thanh Tung, Nguyen Viet Son possesses firm political integrity, strong moral character, proven leadership and management capabilities, and extensive professional expertise. He also expressed his support for the nomination and recommended that the competent authorities consider appointing Nguyen Viet Son as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

Following the discussion session, conference participants proceeded to cast nomination ballots in strict compliance with Party regulations and the laws governing personnel affairs. The conference results will serve as the basis for the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue implementing the subsequent steps of the appointment process in accordance with the prescribed authority.
