Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang receives Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the French Embassy in Vietnam
On 29 July, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang received Marie Keller, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the French Embassy in Vietnam, to discuss measures to further advance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the time ahead. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Foreign Market Development Department and the Electricity Authority.
Welcoming Marie Keller on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang expressed her pleasure at receiving the Chargé d’Affaires at the Ministry. She highlighted the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and France, noting that both countries share a strong commitment to consolidating and deepening the Vietnam - France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. She stressed that bilateral cooperation continues to expand across a wide range of sectors, with energy, industry and trade remaining among the key pillars.

During the meeting, Marie Keller outlined the French Embassy's priority areas and upcoming cooperation initiatives aimed at further strengthening the Vietnam - France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. She reaffirmed France's strong commitment to enhancing cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in industry and civilian nuclear energy, an area in which France has internationally recognised expertise and extensive experience.

Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang shared Keller's view on the importance of stepping up bilateral cooperation in industry and energy in the coming period. She also acknowledged France's continued commitment, together with its partners, to supporting Vietnam in implementing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Declaration.

The Deputy Minister also spoke highly of the contributions made by major French companies operating in Vietnam's energy sector, including EDF, as well as the valuable support provided by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) for power projects in Vietnam.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang reaffirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue to work closely with the French Embassy to further strengthen Vietnam - France cooperation in trade, industry, energy and broader economic relations in the years to come.
