Viet Nam - Poland cooperation opens new prospects for furniture supply chains

Viet Nam and Poland are among the world's top three exporters of wooden furniture, with export values of USD 3.7 billion and USD 3 billion, respectively, according to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC). Beyond furniture manufacturing and exports, Poland also has a world-class industry producing forestry equipment and machinery for wood processing, opening up potential for the two countries to cooperate in developing supply chains for furniture manufacturing.

This view was shared by experts and businesses at a forum held on the sidelines of the International Furniture Fair in Poznan in September 2026.

Although both countries are among the world's leading furniture producers, their industries are not directly competitive due to differences in product categories and end users. More importantly, the two manufacturing sectors possess complementary strengths that could help unlock their cooperation potential.

As a developed industrial country with a large-scale agricultural sector, Poland manufactures a wide range of modern machinery serving the entire production process, from forestry and harvesting to processing, manufacturing and product finishing.

Polish machinery and equipment for the agriculture and forestry sectors are already present in markets around the world but remain relatively unfamiliar in Southeast Asia. Polish manufacturers hope that Viet Nam can serve as a gateway for their products to reach the region. The effective operation of Polish machine tools in Viet Nam would also provide an effective means of showcasing the quality of Polish machinery across Southeast Asia.

In addition, with one of Europe's largest areas of planted forests, Poland could potentially serve as a source of raw materials and input components for Viet Nam's furniture industry.

Representatives of leading Polish manufacturers of agricultural and forestry machinery, including Pronar and Unia, spoke highly of Viet Nam's potential in both furniture manufacturing and the mechanical engineering and manufacturing sectors.

Accordingly, alongside efforts to expand markets for machinery and production lines used in forestry and wood processing, these groups are also exploring opportunities to partner with Vietnamese businesses in investment and joint production and assembly. They are also studying the possibility of transferring technology for selected types of machinery to serve the regional market.
