Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico connects businesses with Vietnam International Sourcing 2026
On July 27, 2026, the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico, in coordination with the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE) - Veracruz Chapter, organized the Vietnam - Veracruz Business Connectivity Seminar to showcase opportunities for economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the State of Veracruz, while providing a platform for government agencies, business associations and enterprises from both sides to exchange information, establish partnerships and promote practical business cooperation.
The seminar was attended by Gerardo Cárdenas Hernández, President of COMCE Veracruz, along with representatives of major business associations, enterprises and economic organizations in the state, including the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA), the Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX), the National Chamber of Freight Transport (CANACAR), GOMSA Logística, Grupo CICE, GRIVER, Tenaris Tamsa, TYASA, CAFIVER, NUVOIL, the Association of Customs Brokers of the Port of Veracruz (AAAVER), as well as food importers and distributors operating in the state.
Veracruz is one of Mexico's most important economic and logistics hubs. The state is home to the Port of Veracruz, the country's largest seaport on the Gulf of Mexico and one of its principal maritime gateways. According to the Port System Administration of Veracruz (ASIPONA Veracruz), the port handled approximately 34 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, serving as a key gateway connecting Mexico with the eastern US, Europe and the Caribbean. Located at the eastern end of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Veracruz is also emerging as a strategic logistics hub, creating significant opportunities for cooperation between Vietnam and Mexico in logistics, port development and supply chain connectivity.
Addressing the seminar, Nguyen Thi Trang, Trade Counsellor and Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico, highlighted Vietnam's achievements as a market economy, its investment environment, and the production and export capabilities of Vietnamese enterprises. She also provided an update on Vietnam - Mexico trade relations and emerging opportunities under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The Vietnam Trade Office also introduced Vietnam International Sourcing 2026, inviting the business community in Veracruz to participate in the exhibition to identify potential partners, expand supply chains and strengthen direct connections with Vietnamese manufacturers and exporters.
The President of COMCE Veracruz highly appreciated Vietnam's development achievements and affirmed that COMCE would continue working closely with the Vietnam Trade Office in Mexico to share market information, facilitate business matching and support trade promotion activities, thereby strengthening economic cooperation between Vietnam and the State of Veracruz in particular and Mexico as a whole. Both sides agreed to maintain regular exchanges, expand business networking activities and support enterprises from both countries in effectively capitalizing on future cooperation opportunities.
Following the seminar, the delegation from the Vietnam Trade Office held a working session with ASIPONA Veracruz and conducted a field survey of the port's infrastructure and logistics services to explore opportunities for strengthening maritime connectivity and supporting import and export activities between businesses in the two countries.
