Prime Minister assigns Acting Minister of Industry and Trade to comrade Le Manh Hung

On December 21, the Prime Minister presented a decision transferring Comrade Le Manh Hung, Chairman of Petrovietnam, to take up duties at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and assigning him to serve as Acting Minister of Industry and Trade.

At noon on December 22, at the Government Headquarters, the Government Party Committee convened a conference to announce the Prime Minister’s decisions on personnel affairs. The conference was attended and chaired by Politburo Member, Secretary of the Government Party Committee, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of the Party and the State, and representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and enterprises.

At the conference, under authorization from the Prime Minister, Comrade Do Thanh Binh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Government Party Committee and Minister of Home Affairs, announced Decision No. 2768/QD-TTg dated December 20 of the Prime Minister on the transfer of Comrade Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Members’ Council of the Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam), to work at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and his assignment as Acting Minister of Industry and Trade. He also announced Decision No. 80-QD/DU dated December 20, 2025 of the Government Party Committee appointing Comrade Le Manh Hung, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade, to join the Executive Committee and Standing Committee, and to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 2025-2030 term.

Immediately thereafter, the Prime Minister formally presented the decision assigning Comrade Le Manh Hung to serve as Acting Minister of Industry and Trade.

Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung, 52, is a petrochemical process engineer and holds a PhD in petrochemical engineering and organic catalysis. He is a Deputy of the 15th National Assembly. His professional career has been closely associated with the oil and gas sector, spanning roles from process engineer to key leadership positions at the Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group.

Since 2000, he has worked at various units within the oil and gas industry, including the Vietnam- Russia Refinery and the Drilling Fluids and Chemicals Corporation. During the 2006–2007 period, he served at the Oil and Gas Department of the Government Office.

Returning to the oil and gas sector, he held a number of management positions at Long Son Petrochemicals Company and the Ca Mau Gas-Power-Fertilizer Complex. He previously served as General Director of Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Company before being appointed Deputy General Director of PVN. In June 2019, he assumed the position of General Director of PVN, and in early 2024, he was appointed by the Prime Minister as Chairman of the Members’ Council of the Group.
