100% consensus on introducing Party Committee Secretary and Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung as candidate for the 16th National Assembly

In accordance with regulations on election work and Guidance No. 26/HD-MTTW-BTT dated December 14, 2025, issued by the Standing Committee of The Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on introducing candidates for the 16th National Assembly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on January 15, 2026 organized conferences under the prescribed procedure to introduce personnel to run for deputies of the 16th National Assembly, term 2026 - 2031.

Attending the conferences were Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the MoIT Party Committee, Deputy Secretaries of the Party Committee, members of the Standing Board of the MoIT Party Committee, along with leaders and representatives of units under the ministry.

The conference unanimously agree to nominate Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung, Member of the Party Committee of the Government, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, a 15th-term National Assembly deputy, and a member of the National Assembly’s Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, as a candidate for the 16th-term National Assembly.

The conferences were of great significance, aiming to promote the mastery of voters at the workplace, and to ensure that the introduction of candidates was conducted in a democratic, objective, open and transparent manner, in strict compliance with legal procedures, serving as a basis for reporting to competent authorities in accordance with regulations.

The conferences included: a meeting of the MoIT leadership collective to propose a candidate for the 16th National Assembly; a conference to collect opinions from voters at the workplace regarding the proposed candidate; and an expanded leadership meeting to discuss and introduce a candidate for the 16th National Assembly.

Delegates discussed and introduced the candidate in a frank and responsible spirit, contributing comprehensive and objective assessments, with a focus on clarifying political integrity, organizational discipline, sense of responsibility, and leadership and management capacity of the proposed candidate.

All opinions expressed at the conferences showed strong consensus and high unanimity in introducing Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung, member of the Government Party Committee Executive Board, Secretary of the MoIT Party Committee, deputy of the 15th National Assembly, and member of the National Assembly Committee for Economic and Financial Affairs, to run for the 16th National Assembly. Delegates assessed that  Acting Minister Le Manh Hung is an experienced official in the energy sector, professionally trained, politically steadfast, innovative in thinking, and possessing extensive experience in state management and corporate governance. He has consistently set an example, maintained close ties, listened to officials and the people, and fully meets the requirements to serve as a bridge between voters and the National Assembly.

Accordingly, 100% of delegates attending the conference to collect voters’ opinions at the workplace, as well as the expanded leadership meeting to discuss and introduce candidates, voted in favor of endorsing Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly.

The Acting Minister stated at the conference that being introduced as a National Assembly candidate is a great honor as well as a political responsibility before the Party, the State, voters in the industry and trade sector, voters and people nationwide. He affirmed that he would strive to fulfill his role as a representative of the people, actively participate in National Assembly activities, proactively study and contribute to draft laws, resolutions and major decisions of the National Assembly, thereby institutionalizing the Party’s viewpoints and guidelines to meet the requirements of national development in the new era, while maintaining close and regular connections with voters and the people.

In his capacity as Secretary of the MoIT Party Committee, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and a National Assembly deputy, the Acting Minister expressed confidence that he would have greater opportunities to access diverse sources of information and engage in critical thinking on issues concerning the country and the sector, thereby contributing to timely orientations and policy decisions for the development of the industry and trade sector, in line with the tasks entrusted by the Party and the State.
