Expanding Vietnam - Japan investment and trade cooperation from Osaka
More than 100 businesses attended the Vietnam - Japan Investment and Trade Cooperation Conference in Osaka to foster investment, trade and supply chain connectivity between the two countries.
Enhancing investment and trade connectivity between enterprises of both countries
On June 29, 2026, at the Osaka Industrial Innovation Center in Japan, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Vietnam Trade Office branch in Osaka, the Osaka Business Partner City Council (BPC), and Japanese partners, organized the Vietnam - Japan Investment and Trade Cooperation Conference. The event attracted the participation of over 100 enterprises, trade and investment promotion organizations, and business associations from both countries, creating a forum for networking and exchanging cooperation opportunities in investment, trade, and supply chain development between Vietnam and Japan.
The conference was an activity under the 2026 National Trade Promotion Program of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, aiming to support Vietnamese enterprises in expanding markets, attracting high-quality investment from Japan, and promoting deeper integration into global value chains.
At the opening ceremony, Le Hoang Tai, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, emphasized that the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developing strongly across multiple fields, especially in economics, trade, and investment. Japan is currently one of the leading economic partners of Vietnam with more than 5,700 valid investment projects and a total registered capital of over USD 79 billion. Bilateral trade turnover in 2025 reached over USD 50 billion and continues to maintain positive growth momentum. The conference was organized to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese localities, industrial parks, and enterprises to directly introduce their potential, investment environment, and key projects to the Japanese business community.

Welcoming the conference, Nguyen Truong Son, Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, stressed that in the context of the continuous restructuring of global supply chains, strengthening direct connectivity between the business communities of both countries carries particularly important significance. The program was designed with two core contents, including a seminar sharing information on markets, policies, and the investment environment, along with business-to-business (B2B) matching sessions, thereby enabling enterprises from both nations to seek concrete cooperation opportunities.
At the conference, Nguyen Ba Hai, Deputy Director of the Trade and Investment Promotion Support Center under the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, presented an overview of the investment and business environment of Vietnam. The presentation highlighted competitive advantages in geographical location, human resources, the system of free trade agreements (FTAs), alongside institutional reform policies, science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation to attract high-quality investment inflows.
Expanding cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese localities and enterprises
Representing Hung Yen, Vu Thanh Van, Director of the Hung Yen Department of Industry and Trade, introduced the potential, competitive advantages, and development orientation of the locality to Japanese enterprises. The Director stated that Japan is currently the largest foreign investor in Hung Yen with 190 projects and a total registered capital of nearly USD 6.5 billion, demonstrating the confidence of the Japanese business community in the investment environment of the province. With a strategic position in the Northern Key Economic Zone, an increasingly perfected transport and logistics infrastructure system, alongside synchronized development planning for industrial parks, economic zones, and logistics centers, Hung Yen is becoming an attractive destination for high-tech, processing, manufacturing, and supporting industry projects. Hung Yen Province commits to continuing to strongly improve the investment and business environment, step up administrative procedure reforms, accompany enterprises, and wishes to build a strategic, long-term cooperative relationship with the Japanese business community in the spirit of mutual development and prosperity.

Overview of the conference
The information shared at the conference helped the Japanese business community gain a more comprehensive insight into the investment environment of Vietnam in general and specific cooperation opportunities in Hung Yen Province in particular, thereby opening up many prospects for cooperation in the fields of industry, logistics, trade, and high technology.
Right after the conference session, the B2B matching session took place vibrantly with nearly 200 turns of exchanges between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises. Many Japanese enterprises expressed interest in learning about the investment environment, developing industrial parks, and expanding manufacturing activities in Vietnam through direct working sessions with representatives of industrial parks and localities. In addition, the connection sessions also recorded a large demand for cooperation in the fields of agricultural products, food, consumer goods, mechanics, supporting industries, and business support services. Many enterprises highly appreciated the quality of the matching sessions, considering this a practical opportunity to find partners, expand markets, and promote investment and trade cooperation projects in the coming time.
