Activities of Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long during the Prime Minister’s official visit to the Russian Federation

In recent years, cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has been continuously strengthened and developed, especially following the official visit to the Russian Federation by Party General Secretary To Lam in May 2025. Building on that momentum, the official visit to the Russian Federation by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh from March 22 to March 25, 2026 once again affirmed Vietnam’s determination to further consolidate and promote the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new context.

A delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long, accompanied the Prime Minister in attending high-level activities between the two sides, notably the talks between the Prime Minister and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and proposed new directions for collaboration in key areas such as trade and investment, energy, industry, science and technology, and education and training.

Regarding energy, one of the pillar areas in Vietnam - Russia cooperation, the two sides agreed to soon study and expand cooperation in clean energy and renewable energy, while emphasizing that the signing of the agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in building a nuclear power plant in Vietnam marks an important step forward in bilateral cooperation in this field.

Immediately after the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long and the MoIT delegation accompanied the Prime Minister to visit the Atomic Energy Museum to learn about Russia’s experience in developing atomic energy. In addition, the Deputy Minister attended a working session between the Prime Minister and leading Russian energy enterprises such as Novatek Group and Zarubezhneft Company to discuss the implementation of existing projects and orientations for cooperation in potential projects, particularly in the natural gas sector.

Also within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long accompanied the Prime Minister to attend the Vietnam - Russia Business Forum. The forum brought together 220 delegates from 120 major enterprises of Vietnam and Russia, operating in sectors such as industry, telecommunications, banking, finance, agriculture, tourism, construction, and real estate.

At the forum, senior leaders of both sides updated the business community on cooperation developments and major policy orientations for economic development in each country. Following that, businesses from the two countries engaged in exchanges on opportunities for cooperation in trade and investment in each other’s markets.
