Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung receives CEO of Central Retail Group
On May 13, 2026, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Minister Le Manh Hung received Mr. Olivier Langlet, Chief Executive Officer of Central Retail Group.
At the meeting, Olivier Langlet congratulated Minister Le Manh Hung on his appointment in the new government, and briefed him on the group’s development strategy in Vietnam in the coming period. He affirmed that Central Retail aims for “A more prosperous Vietnam” through continued expansion of investment and development of its modern retail network in the country, aligning the modernization of the retail sector with Vietnam’s broader modernization goals.

To achieve this objective, Central Retail plans to develop additional shopping malls and supermarkets across provinces and cities nationwide, with the aim of modernizing the retail industry, creating jobs for local workers, and supporting Vietnamese farmers and enterprises in bringing their goods into the group’s distribution system. This strategy also seeks to promote the export of Vietnamese products through Central Retail’s network in particular, and through other global distribution systems more broadly. Currently, Vietnamese goods account for approximately 95 percent of products in Central Retail’s system.
Minister Le Manh Hung highly valued Central Retail Vietnam’s contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development in recent years, particularly in building a modern retail market and helping ensure supply-demand balance in the domestic market. He noted that Central Retail has made significant investments in Vietnam, operating 44 shopping centers and 330 stores across 26 provinces and cities, while also promoting the consumption and export of Vietnamese goods and supporting local enterprises in joining global supply chains.

The Minister also praised the group’s continued expansion plans in Vietnam and its initiative “A more prosperous Vietnam,” which aims to develop a modern, green and sustainable retail system, thereby helping Vietnamese enterprises bring their products into modern distribution channels.
According to the Minister, Central Retail’s development strategy in the coming period is aligned with Vietnam’s socio-economic development orientation and contributes to the Government’s economic growth targets.
Minister Le Manh Hung proposed that Central Retail continue to maintain and further increase the share of Vietnamese goods in its distribution system in Vietnam; coordinate to support Vietnamese enterprises in improving production capacity, business operations, and brand building; continue to recruit, employ, and train high-quality human resources for the modern retail sector, with particular emphasis on management and leadership training; and strengthen support for Vietnamese goods exports through Central Retail’s distribution system, thereby contributing to the expansion of Vietnamese exports to Thailand and other regional markets.

The meeting took place in an open, trusting, and cooperative atmosphere. It further reaffirmed the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s readiness to accompany and support both domestic and foreign enterprises investing and doing business in Vietnam. In the coming period, the Ministry will continue to review and improve mechanisms and policies to facilitate a favorable, transparent, and fair business environment for individuals and enterprises.
